MagicISO Is Not Seeing Disks
MagicISO allows users to extract, burn and create ISO files for both CDs and DVDs. In Windows 7, MagicISO usually works, but there have been compatibility issues that create multiple problems. One of these problems is not recognizing disks in the drive. The issue could delay your work, but a few quick remedies should get the software running again so you can operate your business as usual.
MagicISO Installation
-
After using MagicISO, some settings or registry files may get changed and corrupt the software. This often happens when virtual drives are created too many times. The easiest way to fix this is by uninstalling MagicISO and installing the latest version from the official website. Even if you have the latest version of MagicISO, a fresh installation will reset all of the settings and files. After installing the latest version, try the disk again.
System Restore
-
Recent changes in your computer's registry or Windows 7 settings could cause the error with MagicISO and other software that reads disks. Click on the "Start" icon and type in "System Restore" to load it. Perform a system restore at a point before the error occurred. The restore effects registry files and any software installed after the restore date. You will have to reinstall that software. It does not effect any music, photos or other documents created on your computer. After the system restore is complete, try a disk in MagicISO.
Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter
-
The Windows 7 Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter will analyze your drive problems and fix any DVD or CD drive errors. Microsoft recognizes the error, which is caused when installing, uninstalling or upgrading software. The Troubleshooter will automatically scan the Windows folders and drives to repair the error. Access the Troubleshooter by selecting the "Troubleshooting" menu in the Control Panel. Click on the "Hardware and Sound" and then "Configure Device." After several minutes Windows 7 will complete the repairs.
Considerations
-
If MagicISO continues to have disk-reading errors, then it may not be compatible with your hardware and operating system setup. There are alternative programs, such as MGBurn, ISO Recorder and Star Burn. They all have similar features and are compatible with Windows 7.
